My Ashtanga Yoga journey began with Angelika at North Sydney Yoga in December 2020. One of my earliest and most memorable experiences was receiving an adjustment while Angelika stayed with me for five breaths, quietly counting each inhale and exhale. Until then, I had rarely paid attention to my breathing. That moment opened a door to a deeper connection with my body.
Through regular practice, yoga has become a way of returning to myself again and again. Over time, I have learned that going deeper into a posture is not about how it looks from the outside, but about the awareness, sensation, and understanding that arise from within. By observing our movement patterns and listening to the body’s feedback, we can gradually expand our range of movement while discovering greater balance, stability, and ease.
For me, yoga is a practice of connecting with myself, understanding myself, and ultimately being myself. Through understanding ourselves more deeply, we learn to relate more openly to others and to the world around us. As a teacher, I hope to create a supportive and grounded space where students can explore this relationship through breath, movement and awareness. Yoga remains a lifelong journey of learning and discovery, and I feel grateful to share this journey with others.
