Iris Yuen Chan

Iris grew up as an active child in China, playing various sports. She later studied architecture in Hong Kong and became a table tennis varsity team member. After having children, she became interested in wholeness, which led her to learn Qigong, meditation, Taoist scriptures and Thai Chi – becoming an assistant Thai Chi teacher at the Wudang Academy in Hong Kong.

Moving to Australia for her Masters degree, she discovered Ashtanga Yoga. She attended the three-year-long teacher training course in North Sydney Yoga under the guidance of Angelika Knoerzer. Iris feels that the regular practice of asana, pranayama and chanting transformed her life profoundly, and this feeling deepened during the teacher training.

When not practising or teaching yoga, Iris enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, cooking and painting. She is fascinated by integrating the ancient pearls of wisdom of Indian yoga, Chinese tai chi, Chinese medicine, and Qigong.
