Antaranga Sadhana: Introduction to Dharana
Developing One-Pointed Focus to Calm a Distracted Mind
Do you find your mind constantly jumping between tasks, thoughts, and distractions? In classical yoga, true mental stability begins with Dharana — the practice of binding the mind’s focus to a single point.
As the first stage of Antaranga Sadhana (the inner path of yoga), Dharana bridges the gap between ‘external’ practice and deep inner quiet. In this immersive workshop, Chai will guide you in preparing both body and mind using targeted physical postures (asanas) and balancing breathwork (pranayama) designed to release physical tension and steady the nervous system, before moving into seated concentration.
What You Will Learn & Experience:
- Preparatory Asana Sequence: Grounding movement to release physical restlessness and bring comfortable posture alignment.
- Selected Pranayama: Calming breath practices (such as Nadi Shodhana and Bhramari) to quiet the mind’s fluctuations.
- Classical Dharana Practices: Practical concentration techniques using visualization and subtle inner awareness.
- Guided Meditation: Integrating your steady breath and posture into an effortless seated practice.
No prior meditation experience required—all levels are welcome.
