Gregor Maehle - Yogic Meditation Workshop

North Sydney Yoga welcomes, Gregor Maehle, prominent Ashtanga yoga teacher and author of four renowned books on Yoga, for an enlightening weekend on Yogic Meditation.

In this workshop you will experience how yogic meditation seamlessly develops out of the same methods and techniques that you are already using for yogic posture (asana) and yogic breathing (pranayama). You will learn how to use techniques such as Ujjayi, bandhas, mudras and mantra to build up and form yogic meditation.

You will also learn how to activate the chakras through sound and visualization and how to harness to creative force of Kundalini for spiritual break-through experiences. Gregor will also introduce to the yogic methods of harnessing the power of the subconscious mind, which will strongly increase your ability to meditate. He will also not only explain how to do the methods but the reasoning behind them according to yogic philosophy such as the Yoga Sutra and other texts.

This workshop will step-by-step expose the methods to practice the yogic limbs of pratyahara (independence from external stimuli), dharana (concentration) and dhyana (meditation proper) and how you can integrate them into your daily practice. It is these practices that enable you to harvest the seeds that you have sown through yogic postures and breathing.

Gregor started his Yogic practices 30 years ago. In the mid-80’s he commenced yearly travels to India where he studied with various yogic and tantric masters and traditional Indian sadhus. Amongst others he studied for 14 months with K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, and in 1997 was authorised by him to teach. Gregor has published four books on yoga, most recently, “Yoga Meditation: Through mantra, Chakras and Kundalini to Spiritual Freedom”.

About Dena Kingsberg

Dena Kingsberg was 21 when she made her first trip to India, a student of fine art, honing her craft in the field of sculpture at the Southern Cross University. Once the journey of yoga began, the desire to return to Guruji and immerse in the practice was all consuming. Darkness slowly surrendered to light.

Dena completed the fourth series of ashtanga in 1996 and was graced with certification to teach. She has now been practicing for more than 28 years. Encouraged by Guruji’s love of family, Dena and Jack were married in a ceremony conducted by Amma and Guruji in 1997. The arrival of their children, Zoli, now 13 and Izac, now 10, sealed the blessing. Dena and Jack teach from their simple shala on the edge of Byron Bay, the rainforest rimmed beach town on the East coast of Australia. Together they share workshops across the globe and return to Mysore each year. Life is full and sweet.
