At North Sydney Yoga, we offer Six Week Courses in Astanga Vinyasa Yoga, with a 1 and a quarter hour session once a week. We recommend this course if you are new to yoga or would like to refresh your practice. There are no prerequisites to start yoga.

Participating in six classes allows you to get an introduction to yoga, and a basic understanding of the many benefits of this practice; increase of flexiblity, building up strength and stamina. It is a beautiful way to cleanse the body, relax and to gain peace of mind.

Astanga Beginners Level 1Courses

Courses are non-transferable and non-refundable. At least 48 hours notice is required for the cancellation of a course.
There are no course classes on public holidays. Although if you wish to practice on a public holiday we do usually hold one casual class.

What you need to know about starting a course.

Your place on a course is confirmed once we have received payment of the whole course fee. Please arrive about 10 minutes before the beginning of the class, so that the teacher can take your details.

You will practise in bare feet. Wear comfortable light clothing like leggings or tracksuit pants, t-shirt and something warm to put on for relaxation. Bring a small towel for the Astanga courses. You can change at the school if you wish.

You can bring some drinking water for before and after class. Drinking water is also provided at the school.

Practice is done on an empty stomach. How long before the class you shouldn't have eaten is individually different; as a guideline to begin with, a light snack should be consumed no later than two hours before you start practising. Drink plenty of water before class; a warm drink is OK too.

Everything else is provided, like mats, blankets, bolsters and any kind of props you might use.
